Thomas Heine nasceu em Leipzig em 1867. Depois de receber formação em pintura começou a fornecer cartoons para revistas como Fliegende Blatter e Die Jugend.
Quando Albert Langen começou o Simplicissimus em 1986, Heine foi convidado para se juntar ao jornal. Todas as semanas, Heine fazia o desenho da capa do Simplicissimus.
Frequentemente, Heine fazia cartoons ridicularizando Hitler e o Partido Nazi. Quando Hitler chegou ao poder, em 1933, Heine foi forçado a abandonar a Alemanha. Morreu em Estocolmo, em 1948.

Thomas Heine was born in Leipzig in 1867. After training as a painter he supplied cartoons for magazines such as Fliegende Blatter and Die Jugend.
When Albert Langen, started Simplicissimus in 1896, he invited Heine to join the journal. Each week Heine provided the drawing that appeared on the front cover of Simplicissimus.
Heine regularly produced cartoons ridiculing Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. When Hitler gained power in 1933, Heine was forced to leave the country. He died in Stockholm in 1948.
