O relativamente
desconhecido George Bickham, o jovem (1706-1771) foi um dos primeiros
caricaturistas ingleses e foi também um excelente gravador (tanto de metal como
de madeira) e um impressor. George produziu muitas publicações didácticas;
caricaturas políticas e até impressões pornográficas.
Ele era o filho (ou sobrinho) do gravador George Bickham, o Velho (1684-1758)
que publicou “Universal Penman” (1733-1741).

The relatively
unknown artist George Bickham the younger (1706-1771) was
one of the first English caricaturists and also an
excellent etcher, engraver and print seller. George
produced many instructional publications, political
caricatures and even pornographical prints.
He was the son (or nephew) of the engraver George Bickham
the Elder (1684-1758) who published the “Universal Penman”
(1733-1741).
